I RAN A HALF MARATHON! I sit here over two months later, still pretty proud of myself. I am kicking myself for not writing something sooner but all I can remember is how happy I was. I finally decided to sit down and write about when my body felt its best because right now it seems like I am dealing with one injury after another.

I felt so blessed that my parents, my brother, Colette, Jeff and Tucker came out to see me finish. I remember seeing them as I came around what would be the last couple hundred yards and wanted to tear up a little. I feel like I’ve been a little too much in touch with my emotions since I started this whole running obsession.

It was this race’s first year and was capped at a little over 200 runners, which was the second reason why I chose it to be my first half. The first word in the course description was “flat” so I was sold. Today it seems like it was a fast race even though it took me 2:18 to finish. And to go with the name, it did rain. I mean it was January in Washington… it rained. I don’t mind running in the rain too much except that my ponytail turns into a giant knot. It took a half bottle of conditioner to get it out.

Colette made me this awesome poster (she is pretty amazing)

I hope to do this race every year as long as it is around.
